Texas Digital Court Recording Evaluation Survey
The 89th Texas Legislature directed the Texas Office of Court Administration (OCA) to conduct a study on digital court recording (DCR) in Texas. To accomplish this, OCA has partnered with the Public Policy Research Institute (PPRI) at Texas A&M to conduct an in-depth study of DCR, with a goal of providing policy recommendations on any necessary changes to statues, rules, regulations, or standards regarding the use of DCR in Texas.
The study will employ a mixed methods approach focused on reviewing the current landscape on DCR use in Texas and other jurisdictions, assessing stakeholder perspectives on DCR adoption, evaluating the costs of implementing DCR, and comparing DCR and stenographic reporting. This includes a brief survey and set of relational interviews.
As a part of this study, PPRI is seeking to collect information about your perspectives, and your assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of DCR, as well as your experience with DCR (if applicable). PPRI would like to invite you to participate in a short, anonymous survey, which should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Your responses will remain confidential and will not be reported back to OCA or any other policy-making body in a way that can identify you.
